Resolving “Uncaught Exception” Error During Code Studio Auto Update
Published:
This article explains how to resolve the “Uncaught Exception” error that may occur when CodeStudio is launched during its automatic update process.
Why This Issue Occurs
- Users may encounter an Uncaught Exception error if CodeStudio is opened before the automatic update process has fully completed.
- This happens because essential files are still being modified, leading to temporary conflicts.
- The error can prevent CodeStudio from starting and usually requires either waiting for the update to finish or performing a clean reinstallation if the issue persists.
Resolution Steps
Quick Fix
- Close the error dialog.
- Wait a few minutes for the automatic update to complete in the background.
- Relaunch CodeStudio. The application should start successfully with the latest version.
If the Issue Persists (Clean Reinstallation)
Step 1: Uninstall CodeStudio
Windows
- Open Windows Settings → Apps.
- Find and select Syncfusion CodeStudio.
- Click Uninstall and follow the prompts.
macOS
- Open Finder → Applications.
- Locate Syncfusion CodeStudio.
- Rightclick and select Move to Trash / Move to Bin.
Step 2: Remove Cache Files
Delete cache and configuration folders to ensure a clean reinstallation. (See our ‘How to remove cache folders of Code Studio’ KB article for detailed steps.)
Step 3: Reinstall CodeStudio
- Download and reinstall Syncfusion CodeStudio- Syncfusion Code Studio Install and Configuration
- Launch the application and verify it starts without errors.
Verification
To confirm the issue is resolved:
- CodeStudio launches without the “Uncaught Exception” dialog.
- The application shows the latest version under Help → About.
- Subsequent launches are successful without intermittent errors.
✅ With these steps, you can resolve the “Uncaught Exception” error and ensure CodeStudio runs smoothly after automatic updates.
